FRSC rescues trafficked children, impounds vehicle

Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Boboye Oyeyemi The Federal Road Safety Corps has impounded a vehicle used in child trafficking and rescued 17 of the trafficked children in Kaduna State . The operatives were to arrest the vehicle for overloading and broken windscreen, only to discover that the occupants of the vehicle were suspected child traffickers with some 17 minors. In a statement released by the Corps ’ Head Media Relations and Strategy, Mr. Bisi Kazeem, he said the vehicle , a Ford Galaxy model with registration number LMU 76 XA, grey color , was travelling from Kano to an undisclosed location on Thursday , April 27, around 1155hrs , when the patrol team asked the driver of the said vehicle to stop . Abuja – As the trial of the cousin of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Azibaola Robert, and his wife, Stella, over alleged laundering of $40 million cash began in earnest, all the witnesses called by the Economic and Financial Commission, yesterday, denied knowledge of the couple. Customs discover $1.3m in airport luggage

The Customs officials on Friday found 1.3 million dollars in luggage at Dusseldorf Airport . Police said that they have started investigating whether the money is connected with drug trade , since most of the money was in small notes. The notes were found in the luggage of two travellers who were flying to Turkey. The men , who both live in western Germany , have been released after questioning . The men , aged 38 and 50, are accused of transporting more than 10, 000 euros into a non -European Union country . “Sums of money over 10, 000 euros that are transported outside the EU must be declared . “Failing to register the transport of more than 10 , 000 euros can be penalised with a fine of up to one million euros . “Authorities have confiscated the money, ’’ the police said .

Police Hunts Officer Who Threatened To “Kill 200 People If Buhari Dies”

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has said it has launched a manhunt for a police officer, who threatened to “kill 200 persons if ailing President Muhammadu dies.” The NPF also said that it has commenced investigation into the content of his post on social media, with a view to identifying the policeman and taking necessary actions. [BREAKING] Ife clash: Court orders monarch, pastor, others remanded in prison

An Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo has ordered that the suspects be remanded in prison pending the commencement of the hearing. Justice Kudirat Akano gave this order in her ruling. Prosecutor had applied that the accused persons be remanded after pleading not guilty to the 14 counts of murder, armed robbery, arson and others. Defence counsel, Muritala Agboola raised an objection to the application but the court ordered that the six accused persons be remanded in prison custody pending the date hearing would commence on June 14

CBN offers $100m forex to dealers

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Thursday said it had offered 100 million dollars to authorised dealers as its intervention to stabilise the foreign exchange market. Mr Isaac Okorafor, Acting Director of the Corporate Communications Department of CBN. disclosed this in a statement on Thursday. Okorafor, however, said that no intervention was made in the retail window in Thursday’s auction. The Central Bank of Nigeria head office in Abuja. He said that the bank continued its weekly sale of foreign exchange to the Bureau de Change (BDC) segment to meet the needs of low-end users. The CBN spokesman further said that the bank had observed that quite a good number of dealers were adhering to the forex guidelines. Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency have sealed a two- storey building under construction in Lekki, Lagos after a partial collapse at the site killed two workers. Reports said the workers were mixing concrete at the construction site , located at NICON Town Estate off Admiralty Way , when the incident occurred on Thursday trapping people . 78 bank directors get N10.34bn dividend in 2016
