UK sanctions Oyakhilome’s TV over 5G/COVID-19 claims

The Office of Communications, the regulatory authority for the broadcasting and telecommunications industries in the United Kingdom, has sanctioned Loveworld Limited, operators of  LoveWorld,  a religious cable channel, for airing “unsubstantiated claims linking the pandemic to 5G technology”. The television network owned by the Founder of Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, was also penalised for feeding viewers with the claim that coronavirus is a ‘global cover-up’. In a statement on Monday published on its website, Ofcom stated that the caution followed an investigation into the matter. IPPIS: FG directs ASUU to suspend strike

THE Federal Government, yesterday, called on the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to suspend the strike and return to the classroom to manufacture drugs for the cure of the COVID-19 pandemic. This came as ASUU described the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, IPPIS, as a tunnel created to siphon government resources. N4.3b ‘secret cash’ appropriated for in 2019 budget, says commissioner

Ondo State Finance Commissioner Wale Akinterinwa said on Sunday that the N4.3billion hidden in a bank account for over 10 years was appropriated for in the 2019 budget. The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state has intervened in the matter, to prevent a face-off between the executive and the legislature over the issue. Akinterinwa said in a statement that there was nothing to hide about the fund discovered in 2018 and lies peddled by mischief makers that there was no appropriation for the money. He said that the N4.3billion was in the 2019 Appropriation Bill passed by the Assembly and signed into law by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. It was gathered that the leadership of the APC in Ondo State had intervened in the matter and found out that some lawmakers, backed by external forces, raised what they termed as a false alarm over the fund. A few days later, the FIRS chairman issued another memo to announce the appointment of new directors and a special assistant.The Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Muhammad Nami, has been accused of unlawful retirement of nine directors of the agency to pave the way for his allies. It was gathered that Nami relied on an old civil service rule, which had been suspended to remove the directors. 24 Health Workers Test Positive For COVID-19 In Bauchi

Dr Rilwanu Mohammed, Executive Chairman, Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, made this known on Saturday. Mohammed however, said no death had been recorded among the affected medical workers. He revealed that 17 of them were from Azare, the headquarters of Katagum Local Government Area of the state, while seven were from Bauchi Local Government Area. He added that all necessary Personal Protective Equipment had been provided for the frontline healthcare workers in the state. He said, “Here in Bauchi, we are really very concerned about this infection that is affecting our healthcare workers so that they will not be discouraged or demoralised.” He however, advised the health workers to be very careful and ensure that they properly used their PPE at all times.

REVEALED: Boris Johnson Reveals That French Passengers Will Be Exempted From Its Quarantine Plans

French passengers will be exempted from quarantine measures that will come into force in the UK amid the pandemic.
