Buhari Vacation: Tinubu finally opens up on President's health status

- Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu says only those
who are out of their minds, can doubt his
visit to President Muhammadu Buhari in
London
- The APC national leader says it is sad that
some people are only being mischievous in
regards to the case of Buhari's vacation in
the UK
- Tinubu says the photo evidences all over
the media are proof that the president is
still in his strength
- The former governor of Lagos state, urged
Nigerians to stay off trying to be
mischievous regarding the leadership and
governance of the nation
Former governor of Lagos state and national
leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC),
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has said only
people that are crazy will say he was not
with President Muhammadu Buhari in
London.
In a statement on Monday, Tinubu, a former
Governor of Lagos State, said mischief
makers were behind the news that he did not
visit the President.
The statement, signed by his spokesperson,
Tunde Rahman, said Tinubu was in London
with the former Interim National Chairman of
the APC, Chief Bisi Akande, to visit Buhari
and that they met the President at the Abuja
House.
The statement reads: “The report about the so-
called denial of the visit is the handiwork of
mischief- makers.
“I felt we should not dignify that with a
response. That report beggars belief.
“Asiwaju Tinubu and Baba Akande were in
London. The reason they travelled to the
United Kingdom was to see President Buhari.
“And they visited him last Thursday and held
discussions with him at the Abuja House in
London.
“After the visit, the President, as a mark of
respect, saw off his guests to the door.
“Pictures were taken during and after the visit
and released to the media by The Presidency.

“These pictures were international headlines.
How can anybody in his or her right senses be
saying there was no such visit? It’s simply
crazy!”
In a similar vein, Governor Ibikunle Amosun
of Ogun state, has affirmed that he visited
President Muhammadu Buhari in London.
The President is said to be in London,
receiving treatment for an undisclosed
ailment.
There have been controversy over a picture
showing Amosun and the president in the
United Kingdom, amid allegations an old
image was edited to make it look recent.
However, on Monday at an event at the
Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library,
Abeokuta, Amosun told journalists that he
indeed visited the president in London.

Jose Mourinho explains who his one-finger celebration was aimed at

Jose Mourinho certainly didn’t hide his emotions after winning the Europa League with Manchester United. After his side triumphed over Ajax 2-0, the Portuguese boss celebrated wildly. Mourinho was seen embracing his son, whilst telling all of his players to hold up three fingers to signify their fairly underwhelming ‘treble’ of the Community Shield, EFL Cup and now the Europa League. But there was one action that nobody could quite understand. Immediately after the final whistle, Mourinho could be seen shaking his index finger rather passionately at the crowd. But what did it mean? Did he mean this was the first major trophy of his spell at United? Did it mean that he was still the Special One? Or was it a message to the victims of the Manchester attacks on Monday? Well, none of the above, actually. Mourinho has actually revealed exactly who his one-finger celebration was aimed at. Mourinho explains his celebration "It's for my family," Mourinho sa...

Awaiting the death and burial of recession

Judging by how confident the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Mr Godwin Emefiele was as he made the announcement, we can only but agree that, all things being equal – like economists the world over always posit – Nigeria will be out of recession latest by the third quarter of this year. According to his well-heeled argument, there was nowhere else for the nation’s beleaguered economy to head on account of the abiding positive indicators but out of recession. Who indeed would doubt him with inflation trending downwards, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) improving and foreign exchange going to the real sector as and when needed? What is more! This optimism is no less supported by the recent release of the nation’s economic position by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). According to the release, though the nation’s GDP contracted by 0.52 per cent in the 1st Quarter of 2017 representing the fifth consecutive quarter of contraction since the first quarter...
