Seun Egbegbe implicates younger brother in his criminal case, as Police amends charges

Lawal Kareem, who is reportedly the younger brother of
Nollywood producer, Seun Egbegbe has been arrested
alongside two others, Olalekan Yusuf, and Muyideen
Shoyombo after they were implicated by Egbagbe, alleging
that they took part in carrying out criminal activities with
them.
Seun Egbegbe who was arrested with one Oyekan Ayomide
in February for attempting to dupe Alhaji Isa Adamu
pleaded not guilty to a 40-count charge when they were
arraigned. They have since been held in prison custody as
they were unable to perfect their bail condition.
Following the arrest of the three new suspect, the State
Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID)
of the Lagos State Police Command on Monday presented
an amended charge before Justice Oluremi Oguntoyinbo of
the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos to enable the police
to arraign the suspects arrested in connection with the
criminal offenses levied against Olajide Oluwaseun
Kareem, popularly known as Seun Egbegbe.
According to the amended charge sheet, the three were
involved only in counts one and two, which accused them
of conspiring to obtain the sum of N2,450,000 and 3,000
pounds sterling from one Alhaji Isa Adamu.
The offenses contravened the provisions of section 8 of
the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences
Act, 2006.
Kareem who spoke to reporters when he was paraded at
the police command in Ikeja denied his involvement in his
brother’s criminal acts, adding that Mr. Egbegbe only
wanted to incriminate him.
He also said that Mr. Egbegbe sent him a text while in
prison custody.
'On the day Seun was arrested at Ikeja, it was my boss
that told me that he saw the story on Facebook and went
to Area F to see him,' Mr. Kareem said.
'But after then, he was charged to court and I didn’t go to
see him, only for me to receive an SMS from him saying
that he heard I was partying while he was languishing in
prison,” he added.
However, Seun Egbegbe still has an outstanding iPhone
theft case, which was adjourned to sometime in April
2017.

Jose Mourinho explains who his one-finger celebration was aimed at

Jose Mourinho certainly didn’t hide his emotions after winning the Europa League with Manchester United. After his side triumphed over Ajax 2-0, the Portuguese boss celebrated wildly. Mourinho was seen embracing his son, whilst telling all of his players to hold up three fingers to signify their fairly underwhelming ‘treble’ of the Community Shield, EFL Cup and now the Europa League. But there was one action that nobody could quite understand. Immediately after the final whistle, Mourinho could be seen shaking his index finger rather passionately at the crowd. But what did it mean? Did he mean this was the first major trophy of his spell at United? Did it mean that he was still the Special One? Or was it a message to the victims of the Manchester attacks on Monday? Well, none of the above, actually. Mourinho has actually revealed exactly who his one-finger celebration was aimed at. Mourinho explains his celebration "It's for my family," Mourinho sa...

Awaiting the death and burial of recession

Judging by how confident the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Mr Godwin Emefiele was as he made the announcement, we can only but agree that, all things being equal – like economists the world over always posit – Nigeria will be out of recession latest by the third quarter of this year. According to his well-heeled argument, there was nowhere else for the nation’s beleaguered economy to head on account of the abiding positive indicators but out of recession. Who indeed would doubt him with inflation trending downwards, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) improving and foreign exchange going to the real sector as and when needed? What is more! This optimism is no less supported by the recent release of the nation’s economic position by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). According to the release, though the nation’s GDP contracted by 0.52 per cent in the 1st Quarter of 2017 representing the fifth consecutive quarter of contraction since the first quarter...
